The physical infrastructure of our unit is designed with spaciousness in mind, fostering an environment that not only facilitates advanced medical care but also accommodates families. Recognizing the importance of information and education, we have incorporated facilities within the unit that empower families with the knowledge necessary to navigate their infant's healthcare journey.

At the core of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a capacity of 16 beds, making it the largest facility of its kind in Ankara. These beds are complemented by advanced resources and cutting-edge technologies, allowing us to deliver tertiary intensive care services with unparalleled expertise. We pride ourselves on being equipped to handle a diverse range of cases, catering to infants who are:

  • Born prematurely (preterm) from the 24th gestational week,
  • In need of mechanical respiratory support,
  • Dealing with low birth weight,
  • Born as a result of multiple pregnancies,
  • Exhibiting low or high birth weight based on gestational week,
  • Facing a high risk of organ damage due to challenging delivery, neonatal jaundice, or infection.

Our commitment extends beyond the confines of our hospital, as we provide crucial health services to newborns born in external centers who require intensive care. To facilitate this, we collaborate seamlessly with air and land ambulance systems, ensuring a swift and coordinated response to meet the urgent needs of these infants.

Within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, our healthcare professionals perform a range of advanced medical procedures, including but not limited to mechanical respiratory support, blood exchange, phototherapy, percutaneous catheter applications, total parenteral nutrition, thoracic tube insertion, invasive blood pressure monitoring, bedside ECHO, bedside USG, and retinopathy examinations. Each procedure is conducted with the utmost precision and care, utilizing the latest medical advancements.

Our commitment to maintaining a low hospital infection rate is rooted in a multi-faceted approach. This includes stringent control measures at entrances and exits, preventing patient admission over capacity, application of patient-oriented primary nursing care, effective operation of the infection control committee, optimal use of the isolation unit, adherence to strict handwashing protocols, thorough sterilization of instruments, utilization of disposable materials, and special precautions taken to safeguard the health of our dedicated healthcare professionals.

In essence, Koru Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit stands as a beacon of excellence in neonatal care, combining state-of-the-art facilities, a highly trained staff, and a commitment to ensuring the well-being of the tiniest members of our community.
