Gastric Sleeve

The gastric sleeve, also known as "Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy," is a surgical procedure for weight loss. This surgery involves the removal of approximately 80% of the stomach, leaving behind a tube-shaped stomach resembling a regular-sized banana.

Gastric sleeve surgery aids in mitigating risk factors associated with excess weight, including stroke, cancer, infertility, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, and Type-2 diabetes. This procedure is recommended for patients who have struggled with diet and exercise for an extended period without achieving weight loss.

Gastric Balloon

The gastric balloon, or "intragastric balloon" (IGB), is a temporary medical device placed in the patient's stomach to induce a feeling of fullness with less food intake, facilitating weight loss.

Consider the gastric balloon if traditional methods like diet and exercise have not yielded desired weight loss results. It's essential to note that a permanent lifestyle change, including ongoing diet and exercise, is necessary even after undergoing a gastric balloon operation.

Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass surgery is a procedure that reduces caloric intake by shrinking the stomach, leading to weight loss. The surgery involves disconnecting the top part of the stomach, creating a small pouch, and rerouting the gastrointestinal tract.

This surgery is effective in bypassing approximately 95% of the stomach, aiding in weight loss. It is recommended for patients struggling with obesity who have not achieved success through conventional methods.

Diabetes Surgery (SADI-S)

Diabetes surgery, specifically Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S), is a variation of the duodenal switch surgery. This bariatric procedure transforms the stomach into a banana-shaped tube, addressing weight loss and various metabolic issues, such as Type-2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome.

Given the numerous health risks associated with Type-2 diabetes, diabetes surgery can significantly enhance life quality.

Gastric Injections

Gastric injections present an innovative method to assist patients in weight loss without surgery. This non-surgical endoscopic procedure involves directly injecting a substance into the stomach wall to limit natural contractions of stomach muscles and reduce appetite.

It's important to note that gastric injections may not be suitable for everyone. This method is more suitable for overweight individuals and may not be effective for those with a BMI above 40.
