Elekta Versa (Radiotherapy)

Elekta Versa (Radiotherapy)

In the Radiation Oncology Clinic at Koru Hospital, we deliver services through the utilization of Elekta Versa HD, a state-of-the-art radiotherapy device. The presence of Agility TM in our equipment enhances tumor targeting during treatment, allowing for a more precise shaping of the tumor to the target. This feature facilitates a reduction in dosage for solid rates. The high speed of the 160 shaper (MLC) not only shortens the duration of treatments but also enables precise treatment application through advanced positioning technology. The unique collimator structure significantly minimizes leakage dose permeability, ensuring a fivefold reduction compared to other linear accelerators. This feature not only protects healthy organs but also decreases the risk of secondary cancer formation.

Achieving Optimal Treatment and Dosage with Elekta Versa HD

Our treatment plans are meticulously crafted using the Monaco treatment planning system, employing the "Monte Carlo Algorithm," recognized as the gold standard in radiotherapy planning. This approach allows for the calculation of the most suitable dose rate for the patient, optimizing the biological dose and determining the most effective tumor doses to mitigate damage to healthy tissues.

Image-Guided Radiotherapy with Elekta Versa HD

The Elekta Versa HD device incorporates conebeam CT technology, enabling daily monitoring of the treated area. This ensures precise treatment application by confirming the accuracy of the treated area. The Simetry feature of the Elekta Versa HD device further prevents errors by monitoring tumor and healthy organ movements during treatment.

Precision Radiosurgery with Elekta Versa HD

Elekta Versa HD facilitates radiosurgery treatments, often referred to as point-and-shoot, with exceptional precision in 1-3 day sessions. The device's technology allows for treatment with a high dose rate, tripling the maximum dose rate and increasing the likelihood of treatment success while reducing treatment time. Elekta Versa HD enables faster application of linac-based radiosurgery and intensively modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) compared to similar devices, preventing patient movement during treatment.

Understanding Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is a cancer treatment method that employs ionizing beams to prevent tumor tissue regeneration or destruction, often performed with advanced technology devices before or after surgery.

Duration of Radiotherapy

The duration of radiotherapy can range from 1 to 40 days, with success measured by targeting and destroying the tumor while minimizing damage to surrounding organs and tissues. A collaborative effort involving a physician, radiation physicist, and radiotherapy technician ensures the coordinated application of radiotherapy.

Multidisciplinary Approach in Radiotherapy

A multidisciplinary approach enhances the effectiveness of radiotherapy, a crucial treatment option at various stages of cancer. It plays a vital role in organ preservation protocols, preventing organ loss or associated functional impairments.

Cutting-edge technology is employed in our hospital, where patients receive treatment using the advanced Elekta Versa HD high-tech Linak (linear accelerator) device in our clinic.
