Prof. Dr. Oktay Banlı

Prof. Dr. Oktay Banlı was born in 1965 in Gülşehir, completed his education in Ankara, and graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1988. After completing his mandatory service in the Şaphane district of Kütahya, he began his residency in the Department of General Surgery at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 1991 and became a General Surgery Specialist in 1996.

After working as a lecturer at the university for one year, he began his tenure at Etlik Specialized Hospital in 1997. He worked in the General Surgery and Transplantation (Kidney Transplant) Clinic there for 11 years, and also received advanced laparoscopic surgery training in France between 2005 and 2006.

He received the title of associate professor in 2007 and professor in 2013, serving as the clinical chief of the General Surgery Clinic at Elazığ Training and Research Hospital. In 2014, he worked in the bariatric and metabolic surgery clinic at Weill Cornell Medical College and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, USA.

Since 2006, he has focused on laparoscopic morbid obesity surgery and has specialized in sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass surgeries.

Prof. Dr. Oktay Banlı has numerous publications in internationally respected scientific journals and is a member of many scientific associations. He speaks English, is married, and is a father of two.
