Prof. Dr. Erdal Şimşek

He was born in Ankara in 1972. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Ankara. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. Following his university education, he specialized in Cardiovascular Surgery and became a Cardiovascular Surgery specialist in 2003. He received the title of Associate Professor as a result of the examination he took in 2015. In 2017, he was appointed as a faculty member at the University of Health Sciences. He received the title of Professor in 2020.

Between 2014 and 2018, he served as an assistant researcher in a TUBITAK-supported Stem Cell Study.

He received the FIRST PLACE award twice (in 2018 and 2021) in the best study competition at international meetings and received training on Minimally Invasive Heart Surgeries (closed-method heart surgeries) in Germany (Ruhr University Bochum, Bad Oeynhausen, Germany) with a scholarship. He received training on closed-method bypass surgeries in Ukraine.

Awards

The study titled "A NEW PATHWAY IN RHEUMATIC MITRAL VALVE DISEASE: CYTOCHROME P450 AND GLUTATHIONE S-TRANSFERASE ISOZYME EXPRESSIONS," presented by Erdal Şimşek at the 15th International Congress of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery organized by the Turkish Heart and Health Foundation, was deemed worthy of the FIRST PLACE award. As an award, a 1-month scholarship was granted to our best presenting participant at the Ruhr University Bochum Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany.
