About

Prof. Dr. Tolga Karakan is an academic and surgeon specializing in endourology, uro-oncology, robotic surgery, and andrology. He completed his medical education at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and received his urology residency training at Ankara Training and Research Hospital. He served at Ardahan Military Hospital between 2010 and 2011; he attained the title of associate professor in 2017 and professor in 2022.

Focusing his academic and surgical work particularly on minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, Prof. Dr. Karakan has extensive clinical experience in kidney stone diseases, prostate surgery, bladder diseases, kidney tumors, and male reproductive health. He has contributed to numerous national and international scientific studies, presentations, and publications regarding endoscopic stone surgery, robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery, and andrological surgeries.

Taking an active role in scientific educational activities, Prof. Dr. Karakan has been involved in the training of residents and has served as a speaker, session chair, and instructor at national and international congresses. In his academic work, he focuses particularly on current surgical technologies, patient safety, functional outcomes, and approaches aimed at improving quality of life.

Prof. Dr. Karakan is an active member of various national and international scientific organizations, most notably the Turkish Urological Association, the Endourological Society, the Turkish Andrology Association, the European Association of Urology, and the European Society for Sexual Medicine.
