Dr. Deniz Eylem Yalçınkaya

I graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. I completed my neurology residency between 2000 and 2005 at Mersin University Faculty of Medicine, the city where I grew up.

In 2005, I received training in EEG, EMG, epilepsy, and movement disorders in the Pediatric Neurology and Adult Neurology departments at Ankara Gazi University Faculty of Medicine.

In 2005, I started working as a Neurology specialist at Ankara Başkent University Hospital, where I worked academically in general neurology for 2 years.

Between 2008 and 2014, I began my PhD in Neuroscience at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, where I received doctoral training on the mechanisms and treatment of refractory chronic headaches and neuropathic pain. During this time, I participated in studies on the treatment of intractable headaches using trigger point nerve block injections on approximately 1000 patients with chronic headaches. I received the best researcher award in Europe for my work on migraine modeling in animal experiments.

In 2010, I received training in intraoperative EMG (IOM) at New York Columbia University St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital.

Between 2015 and 2016, I worked in the Neurology department at the University of Cape Town, focusing on headaches, neuropathic diseases, muscle diseases, Alzheimer's disease, and infection-related neurological diseases.

My areas of special interest include chronic refractory headaches, fibromyalgia, dementia management and family counseling, Parkinson's disease, neuropathic pain, and vertigo.
