SURGICAL PREPARATION PROCESSES
1. Preoperative Assessment: Before the surgery, the patient will undergo an assessment by their doctor or surgeon. During this evaluation process, the patient's general health status will be assessed, surgical risks will be discussed, and additional tests may be requested if necessary.
2. Hospital Stay Process: You will be informed about how long you need to stay in the hospital before the surgery. You must prepare in accordance with hospital rules and procedures before the planned surgery.
3. Fasting and Fluid Intake: You may need to fast for a certain period before the surgery. Generally, it is requested to avoid eating and drinking at least 6 to 8 hours before the surgery. This helps reduce the risk of aspiration of stomach contents during surgery.
4. Medication Use: Contact your doctor and learn which medications you should or should not take before the surgery. Some medications must be discontinued before surgery.
5. Personal Hygiene: It is important to shower and wear clean clothes before the surgery. Additionally, the surgical site must be kept clean and free from infection.
6. Attendant Arrangements: In some cases, the patient may need an attendant until they are discharged home after surgery. Arrangements for this should be made in advance.
7. Preoperative Information: Your doctor will provide you with detailed information about the surgical process, risks, and outcomes. Listen to this information carefully and ask clearly if you have any questions.
8. Mental and Emotional Preparation: It is natural to experience anxiety, fear, or stress before surgery. Create a support system to share these feelings and relax. If necessary, you can request psychological support services from your doctor or hospital staff.
Following these steps will help the surgical process proceed more smoothly and safely. However, the necessary preparations may vary for each patient and each surgery, so it is important to follow your doctor's recommendations.
INFORMATION REGARDING PROVISION PROCEDURES
1. Doctor Examination and Diagnosis: When surgery is required due to a specific health problem, the patient first consults a doctor. The doctor examines the patient, may request necessary tests, and makes a diagnosis.
2. Discussion of Treatment Options: The doctor explains the available treatment options and the necessity of surgery to the patient. It is important for the patient to be informed about the risks, benefits, and outcomes of the surgery.
3. Review of Insurance Information: The patient's insurance coverage and policy are reviewed. It is determined whether the surgery will be covered by insurance and which treatment options are within the scope.
4. Pre-authorization Application: The patient consultant submits a pre-authorization application to the insurance company for the surgery. This application usually includes the type of surgery, the reason, the planned date, and the doctor's report.
5. Insurance Company Evaluation: The insurance company reviews the application and evaluates whether the surgery meets medical necessity criteria. Medical justifications and documents for the surgery may be requested.
6. Approval or Denial Decision: After evaluating the application, the insurance company makes a decision to approve or deny the surgery. In case of approval, it is stated that the surgery will be covered by insurance under certain conditions. In case of denial, information is provided regarding the reasons and the appeal process.
7. Preparation of Necessary Documents: Once approval is obtained, the necessary documents are prepared and signed between the hospital and the insurance company. These documents include the date of the surgery, costs, and the amount to be covered by the insurance company.
8. Performance of Surgery: After approval is obtained, the surgery is performed on the planned date, and the patient's treatment begins.
These steps generally reflect the process followed to obtain approval for surgery from an insurance company. However, each insurance company and policy may have different rules and requirements, so patients and healthcare providers should contact the insurance company directly to obtain specific information.
