Prof. Dr. Sadık Ardıç

Prof. Dr. Sadık Ardıç received his medical degree after successfully completing his undergraduate education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Chest Diseases and Tuberculosis, and became a Chest Diseases Specialist. During this period, he gained experience in pleural biopsy, thoracoscopy, and rigid and flexible bronchoscopy. Due to his mandatory service obligation, he was appointed to the Anadolu University Department of Chest Diseases. He worked actively in the establishment of this department. He received the title of Associate Professor at this university in 1990. One year after becoming an Associate Professor, he was appointed to Inonu University, where he established the Department of Chest Diseases. In 1991, he went to the United States for training in Sleep Disorders. For one year, he worked at the Baylor College of Medicine, Sleep Disorders Center (Houston, Texas / USA) with Prof. Dr. İsmet Karacan, one of the first five scientists to establish sleep medicine in the world. He became the first physician in our country to work on sleep disorders as a chest diseases specialist. Since 1993, he has been continuing his efforts within the Turkish Sleep Medicine Society in harmony with specialists from other branches to ensure the widespread adoption and establishment of sleep disorders on a sound scientific basis in this field. He provides formal training on sleep within the society.
He founded the Turkish Thoracic Society School and organized Winter Schools, Professional Development Courses, and Central Courses. During this time, he participated in and received certificates for the endobronchial treatment course in bronchoscopy, tobacco and smoking control course, and epidemiology course. He served as an administrator in all other courses and as a speaker in some. He held various high-level positions in the Turkish Thoracic Society and the Turkish Sleep Medicine Society, and took part in studies that shaped the development of both branches.
In 1993, he started working at the SSK Ankara Training and Research Hospital. In 1994, he established the Chest Diseases Service and Sleep Laboratory there. In 2000, he established the Chest Diseases Training Clinic. He continued his duty, which he started as the founding chief, as the clinical chief after the hospital was transferred to the Ministry of Health.
After retiring from the SB Dış Kapı Yıldırım Beyazit Training and Research Hospital, he started working as a Chest Diseases Specialist at Acıbadem Ankara Hospital and continued this position for one year.
Upon request, he moved to the Kars Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Chest Diseases as a faculty member and became a Professor of Chest Diseases. Subsequently, he served as Head of the Department of Chest Diseases, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, respectively.
After continuing his duty as the Dean of the Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine, he worked as a faculty member at Ardahan University for a short period.
Upon request from Izmir Private Can Hospital, he took office as the clinical supervisor of the chest diseases and sleep center.
He currently continues his duty as a specialist in chest diseases and the sleep center at Özel Koru Ankara Hospital. His main medical interests are:
